The Best Fonts for a Resume in 2026 (and Which to Avoid)

Comic Sans is the easy joke. The real font mistakes are subtler — and they're costing people interviews. Here's what to use, what to avoid, and why.

Pick a modern, widely-available sans-serif or transitional serif. Set the body at 10.5–11 pt. Use one font for the whole document (or at most a different one for the name in the header). Done.

Best fonts for the body

Sans-serif (modern, default for tech, marketing, ops)

**Inter** — designed for screens, ships with most modern OSes and Google Fonts.
**Source Sans Pro / Source Sans 3** — Adobe's open-source workhorse.
**IBM Plex Sans** — reads as confident, not corporate.
